Supreme Court
(CNN) The Supreme Court dealt a major blow to the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline. Though the justices cleared the way for many pipeline projects to proceed while environmental reviews are done, they ruled that the Keystone XL Pipeline must still undergo the lengthy permitting and regulation process. That would force major delays and could jeopardize the existence of the pipeline itself, pending the outcome of the 2020 election. Trump has moved to advance the pipeline, but Joe Biden has pledged to rescind the permit if he wins. Separately, the Supreme Court ruled that states can punish members of the Electoral College who break a pledge to vote for a state’s popular vote winner in presidential elections. The case comes just as election season is heating up.
Election
Despite the pandemic, President Trump is employing a reelection strategy of divisive rhetoric with inflammatory speeches, tweets and statements. He recently condemned NASCAR’s decision to ban the Confederate flag and called to preserve statues of Confederate generals who took up arms against the US, among other claims that American history is under attack. The President is pinning his hopes for another four years on the idea that his silent majority of voters in rural parts of swing states and in the suburbs will respond to his warnings, writes CNN’s Stephen Collinson. But his support among well-educated voters is eroding – and recent national and district-level polls suggest that voters souring on Trump could turn on Republican congressional candidates, too.
Police
Protests are ramping up in Phoenix again after officers shot and killed a man in a parked car during a July 4 incident captured on bystander video. The video shows police threatening to shoot the man before firing a barrage of bullets into the vehicle. Police said the man was armed with a handgun, although his sister disputes that. The fatal shooting comes as protesters nationwide have been demonstrating against police violence. Meanwhile, Georgia’s governor declared a state of emergency and activated as many as 1,000 National Guard members, citing “weeks of dramatically increased violent crime and property destruction” in Atlanta. The governor’s statement says more than 30 Georgians were wounded by gunfire over the holiday weekend, including an 8-year-old girl and four others who died.
Coronavirus
Coronavirus cases in the US South and Southwest are rising so fast that contact tracing is no longer possible, according to a health expert. And because infection numbers never dropped to where officials hoped they would, the nation’s top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said the rapid rise is considered a surge – not a second wave. Atlanta’s mayor says she tested positive.

More on the Chinese virus madness
(CNN) About a fifth of US adults have moved or know someone who's moved because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new study. Nationally, the death toll has now topped 130,000 (which means the fatality threat is lower). In Texas, at least 1,300 people have tested positive from child care facilities alone. As national case counts hit new records daily, at least 24 states have paused or rolled back their reopening plans, which is evil. Florida’s Miami-Dade County decided it was done playing by the Republican-run state’s loose rules and moved to shut down restaurants again. OPPRESSION!
Pro-Trump FL Gov. Ron DeSantis says: Increased testing has propelled Florida into 15% COVID-19 positivity rate but deaths are plummeting — he says it has “stabilized,” says First Coast News and WESH. (Newsweek) The Florida Governor Says Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando are Safer Than a Private Party at Home (in which you might let your guard down on protecting your health) During this Coronavirus.
Over the weekend, Broadway actor Nick Cordero died, supposedly of Covid, at age 41! He was married to a woman(!) and had a baby with her. He didn’t look fat or particularly unhealthy, but he was a liberal against the Second Amendment, pro-Obama, and other nonsense.
Some kids suffer mysterious brain damage…
(Drudge / NY Post) Some adults have gotten brain damage too. Prior studies have found symptoms of coronavirus-caused brain damage to include dizziness, headache, seizures and ataxia — a degenerative nervous system disease. (A HEADACHE IS CALLED BRAIN DAMAGE? HM!)
A couple kids remained wheelchair-bound at the end of the 10-week study* due to muscle-weakness, at least initially. All of them did show improvement (a couple made complete recovery by the end of the study).
*This disorder, called COVID-19 pediatric multi-system inflammatory syndrome, is thought to be a debilitating immune response to COVID-19. It is similar to, but much worse than, the Kawasaki-like inflammatory condition previously linked to young adults with the coronavirus, states a study published Wednesday in the journal JAMA Neurology.
The Central Park 'Karen' Case
(NY Times) Amy Cooper, the white woman in Central Park who called the police on a black bird watcher, will be charged with filing a false report.
(Far-left female-run outlet TheSkimm) Amy Cooper made headlines in May for calling the police on Christian Cooper (NO KNOWN RELATION) – a black male – who had asked her to leash her dog in Central Park (AND he tried to coax her dog with a doggy treat that he keeps for just such intransigence. People are supposed to leash their dog in the Ramble area, and to his annoyance they sometimes don’t). Amy Cooper said in that incident that she would tell police an African American man was threatening her – and was filmed apparently going through with it.
Now the DA's reminding her you're not supposed to call the police and lie to them. And wants to see her in court in October.
The great conservative (meaning OBJECTIVE, TRUTH-LOVING) Constitutional lawyer Robert Barnes (who also spoke out in support of the falsely smeared Covington kids) tweeted: “I represent Amy Cooper. She will be found not guilty of this misdemeanor charge. More to be said later.”
